an ode to gold

‘nothing gold can stay’, frost would say

but hazel eyes with flecks of gold, you’re welcome here

mourning doves, a pair outside my door, trying to stay in from

spring

rain

morning or mourning? i choose both

i’ve been here before, gleaning what i can

with hopes and bounds

from poetry, howard frost and bukowski

why don’t you stay awhile

nothing gold can stay

unless you invite it in
